AIHO is the trade association for independent healthcare organisations.We believe the independent sector can contribute more to the British healthcare system by complementing the NHS and adding capacity and increasing patient choice. We strive to promote and protect the interests of the independent healthcare industry working constructively with Government, the NHS and regulators to develop new ways in which the public and independent healthcare sectors can benefit all patients. AIHO operating divisions are IHAS, and Cosmetic IHAS. AIHO provides management services to ISCAS, SIHA, and WIHA.
From April 2014, many independent providers of NHS services will require a Monitor licence to operate. IHAS contacted IHAS member organisation leads offering a number of focus groups and workshops with MONITOR about the proposed arrangements. IHAS is delighted to congratulate Annie Ollivierre-Smith of BMI Healthcare on winning the prestigious title of Nurse of the Year at this year's Nursing Times Award. Annie is the first independent sector nurse to win this award. Annie Ollivierre-Smith is the Cath Lab Manager and Lead Cardiac Nurse at BMI The London Independent Hospital in central London. The annual awards are a national platform to reward nurses and teams for their work in promoting patient care and are the largest nursing awards in the UK. Read more...
The appointment of Sally Taber to the Skills for Health Board is a significant achievement for IHAS. The Board is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the organisation and ensuring good governance. Skills for Health is the Sector Skills Council, for all health employers: NHS, independent and third sector.
