Fiona Booth, Chief Executive of the Association of Independent Healthcare Organisations (AIHO), has commented on the ‘Private healthcare market investigation final report’, published by the Competition and Markets Authority on 2 April 2014.
“This inquiry into private healthcare has created significant uncertainty in the market.
Treatments You Can Trust welcomes the Report but raises concerns for patients
Treatments You Can Trust, currently the only register of safe providers of Botox® and dermal fillers, welcomes the report and in particular the move to make dermal fillers prescription only devices. This sends the correct message to providers that regulation is necessary for dermal fillers, as previously they were as unregulated as a toothbrush. This will ensure face to face consultations and traceability. We are however concerned that the absence of a register of safe providers will put patients at risk and inhibit tighter control of this rapidly expanding industry worth millions a year.
